Have you wondered about the connection between Retained Primitive Reflexes and Behaviour?
Wished you had a better understanding of how to assess primitive reflexes for all ages and abilities?
Want to understand how to create meaningful, adaptable integration exercises and strategies?
This course is for you!!!
The Primitive Reflex Certification Course, Oct 25&26, is a hands-on, interactive training designed for all healthcare professionals, providers and educators across many fields. Whether you are working in manual therapy, oral function, dental, education, or developmental support, this training will equip you with tools that complement your current approach and deepen your understanding of those you serve.
Often infants are assessed to determine if they have the primitive reflexes present that we would expect but rarely does anyone assess to determine if they have integrated. This can have a massive impact on their development, patterning, behaviour, speech and language development, coordination and can create compensation patterns impacting them into adulthood.
You’ll learn:
*How to assess primitive reflexes at any age, from infancy through adulthood
*How retained primitive reflexes may present and how they can influence development, behaviour, speech, coordination, posture, and learning.
*How reflexes relate to tone, the vagus nerve, adaptability, learning and oral function.
*Integration exercises and how to modify them for different settings, abilities and needs.
*Why reflexes may reappear after trauma, illness or overwhelm and how to support healing
*When to perform and/or how to refer for a full primitive reflex assessment.
*How to work within a collaborative, team-based care model and the importance of Chiropractic care in this process
*Communication to increase compliance, collaboration and optimize outcomes.
Even if you never plan to conduct full assessments yourself, this certification will help you recognize when primitive reflexes may be impacting outcomes – and how your role fits into a larger circle of care.
Let’s raise the standard of care we provide together!
Primitive reflexes are often assess at birth to ensure they are present but very rarely they are assessed to confirm they have integrated properly and in the right sequence to allow for optimal development including our postural reflexes and behaviour. There are many courses out there now discussing retained primitive reflexes but most focus on ages where a child or adult can follow some instruction or has some physical ability to perform exercises alone. Dr. Jenna recognizes that if we could assess, identify any RPR or "holes" in their neurodevelopmental foundation within that first year of life we can offer the necessary movement patterns and help fill in any gaps in real time allowing their development to continue with ease. We understand Primitive Reflexes may be retained or they can return after exposure to our 4 Ts (Traumas, Thoughts, Toxins, Technology) that shifted our nervous system into a state of fight or flight. This course has been created for all regulated healthcare providers working with pediatrics, concussion patients or individuals who have experienced traumas (emotional, physical, chemical). This hands on course is unique as it will cover the neurology, importance of primitive reflexes for the sensory patterns needed for for development AND will demonstrate assessments and exercises beginning from infancy (even before they can sit) as well as modifications for all abilities (physical, emotional, developmental).
